HISTORY

The “Cultural Association of  Xeremiers des Puig de Sa Font” was created by the pupils  of the  Son Servera School of Music (Majorca), and as an association was founded   in the same town  in July  2005 with the intention of spreading  popular music to the people, at large, in the street and  to encourage the use of colles (pairs) &  estols (groups) of ‘xermiers ‘(street musicians) as an expression of typical popular music especially  in fêtes and street fairs as well as the expression in music  of popular  joie de vivre in any other popular event.

The founder members are:

- Tomàs Barceló Castelà (de Cala Millor)

- Constança Pont Pons (de Sant Llorenç des Cardassar)

- Bartomeu Pons Quetglas (de Son Servera)

- Antoni Donoso Fiol (de Son Servera)

- Josep Zanoguera Orell (d’es Port Vell)

- Antoni Genovart Espinosa (de Sant Llorenç des Cardassar)

From its birth,  this association has been run by  Antoni Genovart, teacher of xeremies in the Schools of Music  of Son Servera, Sant Llorenç and Artà.

In 2006 the members of the School of Music of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar joined, forming a estol (group) of  xeremiers from different towns.

Throughout our musical history we have taken part in all the fêtes and the popular fairs: Son Servera, Cala Bona, Cala Millor, Sa Coma, Son Carrió, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.

On invitation from other towns:  Artà, Colònia de Sant Pere, Sóller, Palma, Mancor de la Vall, S'alquería Blanca, Sa Pobla, Santa Margalida, Can Picafort.

And we also have experience outside the island
